Anbefales i oldtidens lægebøger som modgift mod giftige dyrs bid og som middel mod pest. Senere anvendtes den også mod gulsot og vattersot.

Schwalbenwurz (DE)
Wurde in altertümlichen Arzneibüchern als Gegengift und als Pestmittel empfohlen. Später wurde diese Giftpflanze auch gegen Wasser- und Gelbsucht verwendet.

White swallow-wort (ENG)
Recommended in ancient medical books as an antidote against the bites of poisonous animals and for plague. It was also used later for jaundice and dropsy.
