Stammer fra Sydeuropa, hvor den i oldtiden var kendt som middel mod blæresten. Den har i nyere tid været brugt af læger som middel mod nyre- og blærelidelser, gulsot og gigt.

Stammt aus Südeuropa, wo sie im Altertum als Mittel gegen Harnstein verwendet wurde. In der Neuzeit wurde die Lampionblume von Ärzten gegen Nieren- und Blasenleiden, Gelbsucht und Gicht empfohlen.
Chinese lantern (ENG)
Originates from Southern Europe, where, in antiquity, it was know as a medication for gallstones. In more recent times it was used by doctors as a medication for kidney and bladder problems, jaundice and arthritis.
