Er en gammel, ægyptisk lægeplante, der kom til Sydeuropa ca. 300 år før Kristi fødsel. Herfra bragte munkene den med sig til Mellem- og Nordeuropa. Planten mentes at fordrive dæmoner og andet ondt, samt tarrnluft. Gamle lægebogsforfattere advarer mod at spise for meget dild, da den gør “uduelig og ulystig til naturens spil og leg”.

Eine alte ägyptische Heilpflanze, die etwa 300 Jahre v.Chr. nach Südeuropa kam. Die Mönche brachten den Dill nach Mittel- und Nordeuropa, wo man ihn für ein gutes Mittel gegen sowohl Dämonen als auch Darmluft hielt. Alte Arzneibücher warnen vor der Einnahme von zu viel Dill, denne er nähme “die Lust zum Spiele der Natur”.

Is an ancient, Egyptian, medicinal plant, which came to Southern Europe ca. 300 BC. From there it was carried by monks to Central and Northern Europe. The plant was believed to be effective in exorcising demons and other evil and also against flatus. The authors of old medical books warn against excessive use of dill, since it “makes one incapable and uninterested in nature’s mating game”.
